Euro4science 2.0 is a spin-off of the Euro4science project, which developed a Forensic Science Education Toolbox with a series of materials and activities for teachers and students to use in science-related subjects. It is a project co-funded by the European Commission under the ERASMUS+ programme, KA2, school education, coordinated by Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal) and including partners from Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, Greece and the UK.
Euro4science 2.0 uses the “CSI” motto through crime cases to create challenges that students can solve using techniques such as blood type analysis while learning mathematics, chemistry and other subjects in an active and exciting way. We will expand and improve the Toolbox to include activities related to themes such as environment, health and citizenship and will multiply the use of the Toolbox and support materials.
The main activities of Euro4science 2.0 include:
- Improvement of the Forensics Science Education Toolbox by adding new activities and a video library with live demonstrations on how to solve the activities proposed;
- Training hundreds of teachers in Portugal, Poland, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey and the UK, so that they are able to use the Toolbox and train further teachers for this purpose;
- Create a European Network for Forensic Sciences in Education, with “Hotspots” prepared to train teachers for the use of the Toolbox;
- Organise Forensic Science Festivals in various countries, as well as an International Symposium of Forensic Education.
